Kelly is a full-time staff designer for BasicGrey where she is a driving force in designing work for classes, tradeshows, catalogs, and HSN and QVC events. In 2006 she had the honor of being a Memory Makers Master and has over 300 published works that can been seen in the pages of Memory Makers, Creating Keepsakes, Better Homes & Garden's Scrapbooks Etc., Scrapbook Trends, Paper Trends, Scrapbooking & Beyond and other scrapping and paper arts publications.

I started scrapbooking back in 2005, soon after going to my first rubber stamp party. I used to scrap chronologically, but have since become the “random moments” kind of girl. I’ve come to appreciate the imperfect picture, because they too have a story to tell.

I seem to find my best inspiration from home decor magazines and the latest fashion trends. I love to have every scrap item I own splayed out around me so I can find a unique mixture of elements. But my favorite part has to be mixing crazy color combinations to make an eye pleasing design. I think I take the award for the most chaotic scrapper in the world!
I taught 3rd grade before having my daughter and becoming a stay at home mom. I have the great honor of designing scrapbook papers, stickers and embellishments for Dream Street Papers. I am also a part of the design team at two of my favorite manufacturers: Hambly Screen Prints and Urban Lily. When I'm not creating layouts, altered art and paper designs, I love to spend time with my family or snuggle up to a good historical fiction book late at night.

But, we currently call North Carolina home. I actually love the
military life. It has (and will always) give me opportunities to see
and experience parts of the world that I otherwise wouldn't be able
to. And, of course, that makes for some great scrapbooking material,
right? I never really know how to answer when people ask where I'm
from, though. I grew up in Texas, spent several years in Alaska, and
lived in Seattle while I pursued my degree in commercial photography
from The Art Institute of Seattle. There were lots of other little
stops along the way.
I started scrapbooking about 2 years ago, after I had spent several
years in the rubberstamping hobby. Scrapbooking was just a natural
transition for me. A little slow at first, but since my husband's
current deployment, I scrapbook every chance I get. It's how I keep
my sanity! And, of course, I'm completely addicted!
When I'm not putting glue to paper, I'm chasing my two little ones
(Luka, 1 and Hazel, 4)around with a camera. I've also been known to
cook or garden when I find the time. Many hours of this deployment
have been spent remodeling my house. I constantly have to keep myself
busy, and always seem to be in the middle of some project or another.
And, I'm so excited to be adding some Label Tulip goodness to that
mix!

I live in the Austin, Texas area with my husband, Troy and our dogs. We enjoy a simple life together.
I started scrapbooking 11 years ago when I moved across the country away from friends and family. Scrapbooking was how I dealt with missing my friends and family. I have always loved creating, and teaching others, so I taught classes at several different scrapbook stores for the last 9 years. I enjoy making altered items, mini albums and cards, but my heart is really in making scrapbook pages. I have made lifelong friends in this hobby, and what is better than that?
In addition to scrapbooking, I have raised and trained English Springer Spaniels for show. You will often see one of my dogs featured in my work. I also enjoy photography.
I am very excited for the opportunity to design for Label Tulip! These kits are amazing!

I'm Ruth Akers. I answer mostly to Mom. I'm the mother of 4, and the wife of an Army man. So really, I'm a single mother most of the time. I scrapbook to keep myself sane, and preserve the moments that I might otherwise forget.
I love diet coke, sales on cute kids clothes, scrapbooking with thread, funk, paint, and pop-dots. I'm a virgo, and a horrible cook. I've been scrapbooking since NKOTB was cool, but only 6 years with any style. I can't wait to work with Label Tulip!
